Basic sentence

わたしは　７じに　おきます。

Watashi wa shichi-ji ni okimasu.I get up at seven o'clock.

Use

1. Used to say when one does something.

Structure

	じ	に	V	ます。
		ごろ

	なんじに		V	ますか。
	いつ

Examples

①わたしは　６時に　おきます。

　Watashi wa roku-ji ni okimasu.　I get up at six o'clock.

②A：のださんは　まいにち　なんじに　ねますか。

　A: Noda-san wa mainichi nan-ji ni nemasu ka.　A: What time do you go to bed every day, Mr. Noda?

　B：１１時に　ねます。

　B: Juu-ichi-ji ni nemasu.　B: I go to bed at eleven o'clock.

③まいにち　１２時半ごろ　ねます。

　Mainichi juu-ni-ji-han goro nemasu.　I go to bed at around half-past twelve every day.

④A：いつ　おふろに　はいりますか。

　A: Itsu ofuro ni hairimasu ka.　A: When do you take a bath?

　B：あさです。８時ごろ　はいります。

　B: Asa desu. Hachi-ji goro hairimasu.　B: In the morning. I have a bath around eight o'clock.

Commentary

1. A.　「に」indicates that N is the time at which an action takes place.
2. B.　「ごろ」indicates an approximate time.
   In this case,「に」isn't used. (③④)
